Join Kora Shriners: Who can join
Shriners International is connected to Freemasonry. If you already hold the degree of Master Mason in good standing, you are eligible to petition for membership as a Shriner through your local chapter. Shriners International explains this pathway and what to expect in its guide to defining your path to membership and its explanation of the Shrine’s connection with Freemasonry.
If you are not a Master Mason yet, you can still reach out. Many men begin by learning more about Freemasonry and then pursuing the steps required through a local lodge. If you are unsure where you are in the process, send a brief note through our Contact page and tell us your town, your background, and what you are hoping to get involved with. We will help you understand the next practical step.
Join Kora Shriners: What the process looks like
Joining Kora is designed to be straightforward and welcoming. To Join Kora Shriners, start by submitting the interest form below. While specifics can vary by year and circumstance, most new members move through the same general flow.
-
- Start the conversation. Submit the interest form below or contact the office with your name, phone, and email. Let us know whether you are currently a Master Mason and, if you are, which lodge you belong to.
- Meet Kora. We will invite you to a conversation or event so you can get a feel for the culture and the people behind the temple. If you want a low pressure way to see Kora in action, pick a public gathering from the Events page.
- Petition and guidance. Shriners International notes that once you begin the application process you are paired with a mentor who can guide you through the petition process and help you get to know members of your local chapter. Locally, you will also have someone who can answer questions and help you connect.
- Fees and logistics. Membership dues and local fees can vary. When you reach this stage, we will walk you through what to expect, what payment options are available, and what is included. If you are budget conscious, let us know.
- Welcome and participation. After the formal steps are complete, you will have many ways to show up. Some members prefer meetings and temple events. Others enjoy community visibility through parades and fundraisers. Many find their place through Units and Clubs.
To see what that day to day involvement looks like, explore the activities on the Unit Clubs page. Units and Clubs are where many members build friendships, volunteer together, and keep the spirit of fun and fellowship alive.
