Steven Peterson

Recorder

Steve was born and raised in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1989, and then attended the University of Maine at Orono, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Returned to Lewiston/Auburn, he raised three wonderful children, with my late wife, Amy. Steve grew up working in his family businesses, Peterson Machine Shop, Inc & Down-East Sportscraft, maker of the Down-Easter Fishing Rod Holders, and continues manufacturing them with the help of his daughter, Kathryn, who is the fourth generation to work in the family shop.

Steve joined Ashlar Lodge No. 105 in Auburn in 2000, as a third generation Mason. He has served as Master twice and has been Lodge secretary for over 20 years. He is a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of Pine Cone Chapter No. 26 Order of the Eastern Star, and is an active DeMolay advisor with Knights of the Sun Chapter in Auburn. Steve joined Kora Shriners in 2012 and became a member of the Band, playing trumpet and has served as secretary for many years. He also serves as secretary of Kora DeMolay Council and is a member of the Kora Hillbillies. Steve is very proud of his two sons, Noble George and Noble Donnie, who are also members of the Kora Band.

In his spare time, Steve is a Civil War Reenactor with Co. A of 3rd Maine Infantry Regiment and is currently serving as their 1st Lieutenant. He has been reenacting the American Civil War for over 30 years and both of his boys grew up reenacting as drummer boys. When not at a Lodge or Shrine meeting, or running around in an open field in a wool uniform, Steve can be found in his recliner playing video games on his PS5, or on his motorcycle, or spending time with his grandson, Louis.
